Because I am abso-freaking-lutely insane, I created a family tree for the Kavanaugh family going back 10 or 11 generations. I didn't necessarily include the dates on it, but I did figure out the basic math for it to go back and work with some of the 'historical' timelines that Aidan and I have been playing with while our characters have been waiting to find out what's going on with them.
And because I'm not so abso-freaking-lutely insane as to suss out all the Aunt's families, and all the cousins, those are, of course, all open still.
((Edit: And yes, there may be a familiar name in there somewhere, and yes some middle names/first names were re-used but that's not uncommon. Also, I know poor Rosalie is at the end of the list but it's just the way the program spit it out due to her having a different father than the rest of the girls.))
I generally forget that the forums exist, but I remembered today… and I wanted to share the following…
When the charming man asks you to have a drink, even if he is a Vampire, don't antagonize him and just be a good sport… .
I'm a geek of extraordinary size, so one of the things I like to do is find music and sound tracks for RP scenes, characters, and even those fun blog posts.
Anyone want to play along at home?
To start, I thought that "Bloodstream" by Stateless would make great overall theme music for the whole RP. Like, if there were going to be opening credits, this would be a good song.

… it was Faith. :D
So… Jas got rescued by Buffy? ;)

I just wished to be an extreme dork and be the first to post on the happy, shiny new forums!
Yay, forums! (Now I'll never get any work done …)
Y'just had to go and call me mature… :P
I'm leaning towards closed. In TiG's heyday, they had 20-25+ people logging on at any given time. We all got there with 'a friend who plays knew a friend', and it does begin to add up. I am tired of having to work in order to explain to someone why over and over.. and over.. and even then, they don't get it. As far as the 'invite only' TiG went, I didn't find one twink. They all prided themselves on good storytelling, they knew their crap, and they wouldn't put up with weenies. Now, as for all the other games I've been on, open games, I have only formed less than a handful of on-going, consistent gaming friends— and that's after 10 years of MU*ing.
I think the fear is that if we remain closed, we won't get the people. I don't believe that in the least. If Mayhem asks one, I ask one more, Con asks one and Aidan asks one, we've doubled our population, and they are all people we could probably trust. I don't see a problem with that.
That said, there is a place for auditions.. and it's something to be considered. I just think it's 'down the road', rather than opening the doors.
Here's a thought for staying closed/dual-CG:
You can still get a decent variance of character personalities/player maturity levels even with invite-only. For instance, Chaos has invited Aidan/Zoe/Jasmine (hoping I got the alts right there!), and she's a good player that fits in well with what you want. She's been on the grid long enough to prove she's 'trustworthy' (although I'm fairly certain you already knew that. :P). At this point, I'd say she would invite someone else if she wanted to.
Then you go along another month with that someone else, and allow them to start inviting people they'd like to. Etcetera, etcetera.
The issue with that is that it would be an extremely slow process.
On the flipside of that, an open game immediately allows fresh blood onto the scene. My largest issue with an open game is that the gaming community likes to wander to new games, poop on them, and forget to wipe properly as they leave, thus leaving a smear of their issues/twinkiness/stupidity behind which in turn causes other players to get a whiff of the stench that's left and start to make judgment based upon that.
I suppose a better way of saying that is 'one rotten apple generally spoils the bunch'.
I do like the idea of the game eventually being open. Once everything is in place, we have a great bunch of steady-ish players, and the world is formed. If there comes a time where there's a comfort level for being able to do so, I don't generally see the problem with it. Pretty sure three strong staffers can handle the twinks and the munchkins easily enough. ;) It's a matter of 'want to' at this point, really…
With all of that said above (and my brain is still somewhat sleepy so I apologize if it's not extremely flowing or coherent), at the moment I'm more for a closed/dual CG. I love the idea of auditioning potential newcomers to help weed out the people you may want to throttle… it'll scare off most of the twinks.
I think the title says it all :)
Me too. ;) Glad you're enjoying it!
I love watching this drama unfold :)
It just keeps getting richer and richer, doesn't it :D
Heh.

Wonderful! I love it.
The best motivation would be to clear up confusion (heheh) between certain races and/or the limitations certain races possess.
Well… that and cookies. Cookies are the world's best motivators.
And I got the +taxi thing working, too, so we can actually travel around London.
Oh. And I figured out why this entry wasn't showing your blog title on the Blogging London page. (Always make sure your entries are parented to your blog page. See the '+Options' button at the bottom of the page to do so.)
All fixed. :D

Grid is pretty much built. All that's needed are descriptions, which will be forthcoming, and adding the buildings that'll be so much a part of the story.
